Back then they enjoyed Space Invaders, so they must've been kinda primitive back then.

Do PDA and Graphic Calcs have the same type of video card these days? I was wondering if it was posible to just clone a graphic calc GUI onto a smartphone or PDA and just use a PDA to do graphical charts instead of buying a TI-84.

The teachers at Schools probably just bann PDAs for tests and quizs since they think the students will just fill it full of cheats and cheat during the exam.
