I know routers seem to have very few updates, maybe they should have more to patch and protect aginst such things?

I feel building your own Linux router can be a good idea for users who want to make sure their router is safer from viruses like Wannacry, Heartbleed, and Spectre security problems and viruses.

I think most router operating systems and software are rarely updated.

I think there are Linux Operating systems which can turn the Raspberry Pi mini computer into a wireless router.

I remember there was a crowdfunding campaign for a router made with a Raspberry Pi mini PC, and there are posts online on how to make a router with a Raspberry Pi.

I think there are probably many thousands of routers made with a Raspberry Pi mini Pc.
