I used MS-DOS on older computers many years ago. But, I mostly used MS-DOS to play games, and use educational programs related to math and English. I think some people may of bought used and older MS-DOS computers when Windows 3.1 came out because used DOS computers were cheaper to buy. Windows may also be less reliable than MS-DOS back in the past because new tech is usually less reliable.
The internet, watching video, MP3 songs, and CD-ROM discs were not popular or invented many years ago, so a more affordable MS-DOS computer can be good enough for most users in the past.
When do you think Windows 11 will be released?

so I been seeing some discussions that people think the next OS from MS won't be called windows # at all, but a whole new name and look. That would be interesting.

I feel there is a possibility of Microsoft releasing a more lightweight mobile OS for mobile tablets like the iPad and Android tablets which mostly show apps in full-screen mode.
I think having both a mobile OS and desktop OS built-into one OS can be kind of slow on slower computers.

Microsoft can make a more lightweight OS which run better on slow tablets and PCs.Skeithex wrote: pretty sure they just call that Window 10 S.
I think Windows 10 S is not very lightweight because 10 S requires a Intel Pentium 4 CPU, 1GB RAM and 16GB storage. I think Android and Java flip phone OS is more lightweight and can run on slower devices like cheap smartphones and tablets.

I thought S was as light weight as it got, because isn't the MS surface supposed to be a tablet?

I think the Microsoft Surface is more of a touchscreen All-In-One PC with a removable keyboard cover. Some of the MS Surfaces have Intel i7 CPUs.Skeithex wrote:I thought S was as light weight as it got, because isn't the MS surface supposed to be a tablet?
Windows XP is probably the most lightweight Windows OS which can use newer software like MS Office 2007, and older versions of Google Chrome. I know Windows XP can run on computers with 256 MB RAM, and older Intel Celeron CPUs.
