What do you think of ning.com a site that lets you create your own socail site for free.

I think it is kind of neat, and the skin and template are easy to modify.

I notice some celebrities like Boa, Sweetbox, etc use Ning

It was pretty simple for me to make a ning for Mxproject http://mxproject.ning.com/

One of the advantage of ning is it is less likely to run into people you don't really like since you can make your own socail site compared to Facebook where you run into people into you don't get a long with secretly, but your force with the dilemma if you should be their FB friend or not since they might be your dramatic co-worker, bratty classmate, and shady neighbour. But, on Ning you can make your own social site and try your best to hide it from unwanted people.

But, honestly, I would probably use Joomla, phpbb2 forums, or Drupal if I wanted to make a social type website.

I recommend Joomla. it's very nice and easy to use once you know what your doing.

I agree Joomla is pretty nice. I also recommend Wordpress since it is a good blog ging software ahnd can be easily be moded in to a social site pretty easily if you install the right mods.

Drupal are for the people who have a lot of time and knowledge in CMS, web developtment, and html skills.
