Your views on free and paid software companies installing toolbars on your browser?

I don't like it, but I suspect most of them get paid everytime someone agrees to install the toolbar, and uses it to search for stuff online, so it is one of the ways freeware company can make a profit since most people these days don't donate.

i always opt out of installing them,

i don't give a crap if it's my most used piece of software if i had wanted any form of ad/malware on my machine i'd browse porn sites

ads inside the software i don't mind to much but tools bars not going to happen,
I never really understood Thursdays.

I opt out as well, but I notice you have to opt-out of the change default search engine, and homepage for your browser before you opt out of the toolbar. If you opt-out of the toolbar first, then the homepage change, and default browser search engines are greyed out and still checked.

Windows Live Messanger and FoxIt (colourful box which nags me to buy the PRO version) are a decent ad-supported program.

Most of the toolbars seemed to be from reputable companies like Yahoo, Ask, Symantec/Norton and Google these days which I don't really get why they do this since they already has a huge following, and make a lot of cash.
