Like this guy who use BS player to watch a movie on his background with BS player.

I think it might be good if you are trying to sell something. You don't have to worry about people accidently closing or minimizing your commercial or infomercial at one of those trade shows or market places.

But, it probably be laggy if you have.

irritating, very irritating as you have to hide desktop icons and explorer to make it even worth while so you can't do anything anyway

though can see it's advantages at trade shows and the like though i just think there irritating for all other purposes
I never really understood Thursdays.

I agree it will be irrating for all other purposes since I can no longer surf the web on one windows while watching a video on another.

Hmmm, adding a video of a person screen saver as a wallpaper, and hiding the taskbar and icons might be a good practical joke on April fools day to play on some daft person since taking a full screen shot of a persons desktop and setting it as their wallpaper as a practical joke been done so many times that it is easy to figure out how to fix and not really worth doing anymore.

I would think the lag it would cause be too great and make it so you can't do much.

It depends on the computer's part. For example, if a PC has a newer dual core CPU, 2GB of RAM, a decent PCI-Express or AGP video card with atleast 128 MB RAM it can handle ia video as a background in most cases.

OR

You can also lower your monitor resolution to 1024x768 or 800x600, and use a low resolution slow moving video as your background if you have a slower PC.

Yeah the main purpose of the animated or video background in the beginning was something nice and pretty. Even something sci-fi'ish but either way would be small video clips and would not take up many resources on a decent computer. I think that would be the only time you would want to use one anyway is if it were pretty small.
