Indeed, it would. You can listen to days of music by streaming to a player since a computer drive has a lot of storage compared to a MP3 player drive. If you use it to listen to internet radio, or Music playlist on YouTube, Myspace, Facebook, etc then you can listen to an endless amount of music online.

Tbh i can see mp3 plays becoming obsolete altogether and phones taking over you can already load up 64gb on microsd cards and most phones are coming with greater than 2gb embedded memory

I agree phones would probably be the most popular MP3 playing device for many people since most people already carry around their phone, and most new phones can play MP3.
I read there are cases which can supply a few extra hours of battery life because the case has a built-in battery or solar charging cell to hook up to the phone, or users can carry extra batteries.
