Never buy speakers with holes in them

Post by Skeithex »

I got these speakers almost a year ago and recently I noticed they crackle when I adjust volume.

My research shows that the holes in the top when get dusty make that crackle sound. You can clean them out to fix it but the dust settles right back in within a few days. So my warning, never buy speakers with those holes in them, they don't make much difference sound wise.

Can you clean dust out from the holes, and use tape to cover the holes?

The dust can be cleaned out, but I would think covering them would affect the sound. I will try that though.

Maybe using clothe with very tiny holes like the clothe for speakers, panty hose may affect the sound less.

Maybe it is an eye trick to get more people to buy them by making the hole make the speakers look more powerful than they really are like those cars with holes on the hood, and wings on the back trunk.

Homer Simpson making Speed holes on his car.
