It's a good thing he did not drop it directly on the screen side since I saw a video where the iPhone 6's screen crack when it was drop on the screen side. The person who designs these boxes should really make them slightly deeper, or use a piece of double sided tape to stick the phone to the box.

I'm almost willing to bet this was a set up, since it seems like the phone should be twisted into the box. I'll have to find a official unboxing video to be sure.

Maybe he opened, and removed it before the interview to make the interview faster by removing all the stuff like tape, and other stuff before the interview.
It could be stage by the News channel since now the News Channels got a lot of views on YouTube, and other video websites.
If it has Ads on the video, it would probably make many thousands to millions of dollars on YouTube from those in-video and banner ads. I read on blogs that some YouTubers make $100,000+ to millions of dollars by posting short videos which go viral and get millions to billions of views like Psy-Gangnam Style, Nyan cat, and the RickRoll video which probably made millions from views.

Yeah, he opened it before hand:
unless they sold him something special.
