I feel the $150-200 Chromebooks were popular with students during the Covid19 lockdowns because they were good enough for schoolwork, and online classes.
Many recently unemployed people may of bought cheap Chromebooks because they needed a cheap laptop for sending resume and cover letters to employers. Chromebooks' webcam, microphone, and wi-fi (802.11N or AC wireless) is good enough for video chat with employers.

cheap Pcs were all the rage, since people needed them and led to a shortage.

I feel some people may also be re-selling cheap PCs bought from stores and used PCs for higher prices on eBay and Craigslist during Covid19 lockdowbs because there was a PC shortage caused by the Covid19 lockdowns which made a lot of people buy new PCs because of work from home.
Some people who are stuck at home may also bought cheap PCs to play web browser games, and older classuc games whuch can run on cheap PCs.

I think the game console shortages may of cause many people to buy Cheap PCs to play games like Minecraft, Tetris, web browser games, emulators, and older PC games like Quake 3, Doom, Final Fantasy 7 for PC.
The public libraries and schools computer room were closed during Covid19 lockdowns, so poorer people without a PC bought a cheap PC to use software, games, and the internet at home, and subscribe to cheaper 5Mbps DSL and 56K Dial-up internet.

At least, a 50 pack of DVD-R disc and USB DVD disc drives, internal DVD drive, and PCs with DVD drive are affordable, so people can ask someone with the large files you need to make a DVD-R disc to share large files you need by burning a DVD-R disc, and meeting them in person to get the disc.
