I think it is somewhat of a hassle to remove gold from gold plated wires, and there is only a very thin layer of gold on wires. I think the small amount of gold on gold plated wires may not be worth much money.

Never underestimate those looking for a quick buck, they would take the time to strip the gold off.

I agree, a lot of criminals may strip off gold for a quick buck.

and they may resell the parts as well, that could be damaged and not working.

Some criminals may take off individual parts like RAM chips and processors on video cards and motherboards to people who are looking to buy individual parts to install on a circuit board, or another video card.

True, they would gut them to make more profit and might not even label them right for correct purchase.

Criminals may also put fake labels, and graphics on RAM chips, CPUs , and other parts to sell them for higher prices by tricking people into thinking they are buying more expensive parts.
