AVs can't catch everything, a lot of malware gets through and sometimes AVs can't see malware.

I imagine many virus makers may test out their virus on different popular antivirus, and see if the AV detects the virus before the virus maker release the virus.

Most AVs run off of a database or known launch protocols, if a virus acts outside of that knowledge base, nothing will stop it.

I imagine it can take some time for people to update the database.

I think it is updated often, but takes time to properly scan all reports and found viruses.

I think it may take some time for some companies to update to the latest virus database update because they are afraid the update may break Windows or software they use on Windows.

True, even I'm afraid to update most of the time that might break something.
