Usually it's just companies that sell it off to give the higher ups a bigger pay check.

I feel more people may form their own companies if the higher ups sell things off because the higher ups are greedy.

It's not easy to start your own companies these days, specially with hackings on the rise that can end companies.

That is true. Ransonware and hacking probably cause many small companies to lose a lot of money.

To the point of bankruptcy, most companies can't come back from losing everything.

I imagine a lot of customers may no longer buy things from companies who lost their data because of a hack.
