I feel dial-up may still be used when faster internet connections are down for some reason.

Given how heavy the internet is these days, I doubt it be any faster.

I think dial-up may only be good for sending text messages, and it is not much faster these days.

text based emails would work best with dial, so long as no attachments added or images.

Low quality MP3 audio files which are a few minutes long maybe able to download to a computer at an acceptable speed.

128kb mp3 files could be downloaded like that, but still take an hour.

I think people used to use 96 Kb WMA audio files fo share online because they are small in filesize, and the quality of the audio is okay.
