I think the official overclocking software which cone on the CD disc from your video card or motherboard are slightly safer because they can limit how high you can overclock your CPU and videochip.

even they can be dangerous, I know people who do restore to them instead of upgrading for better performance.

This is true a small overclock can be dangerous espiecally if your CPU and Videocard has a poorer quality cooling fan and heatsink, or your CPU and videovcard is cheaply made.

I've seen people come in with burnt up PCs that over clocked. Help them get new parts to upgrade with.

I think there are motherboards which automatically turn off the computer when the CPU and motherboard gets too hot. But, I think the auto-shutdown can not work sometimes.

I feel many cheaper and low quality PC power supply may not be good enough to handle overclocking, and end up causing a power surge which break PC parts like CPU and RAM.

I never knew they can shut down on their own, but I think most times they don't shut down fast enough from what I've seen with some destoryed PCs.

I think autoshutdown temperature motherboards are mostly from motherboards you buy seperately at a store.

But, PC companies may disable, not include or remove the feature, so their PC does not last as long.
