I sometimes use my landline phone because a lot of companies like the electric company, internet service provider, schools, and relatives only have my landline phone number. Plus, I do not have to worry about running out of battery life or poor reception most of the time.
I think a lot of people now use a computer and the internet to make calls at home because internet phone calls are cheaper. I think Skype can make phone calls.
I imagine some rich people may still send fax messages with a fax machine because they don't mind spending money on ink and paper for their fax machine, and they prefer to read text on paper. I heard a lot of companies in Japan still use fax machines.

Re: Purchasing parts
I know people will use pc programs like mitel, skype and teams to make and take calls, which helps to have good processing on the PC to make it happen.

Re: Purchasing parts
I think having a computer with a faster CPU and 8 GB of RAM would be helpful with making phone calls, and using MS Office, web browsing or playing a large game at the same time. Windows 11 64bit can use a lot of RAM and CPU power when a few web browser windows are open at the same time, so phone call programs can make Windows slower.

Re: Purchasing parts
between running phone app, office and anything else like a note program, a person really needs 16 GB.

Re: Purchasing parts
I remember when 8GB was a lot of RAM. I wonder if we need 32GB of RAm in the future.

Re: Purchasing parts

Re: Purchasing parts
I think if Linux becomes more popular, most computers won't need to upgrade to a lot of RAM like 32 GB until many years later unless most people host large 4K video streams of them live streaming live videos from a 4K camera to thousands to millions of visitors at once.
