I think many Linux OS now has a mouse and keyboard user interface because many users don't know how to use command lines. Ubuntu also come with a program store for making it easier to download programs.

I feel criminals can take over some Linux software, and change the code to install malware. It may also be possible to hack an ISP to trick a Linux web browser or command line to download a virus program when visiting a certain website link.

Depends on the flavor, the less popular ones don't have any GUI to help people use them more easily.

I think the less popular Linux OS may mainly be used for things like Routers, and Firewalls where a GUI can slow down the device like routers with less RAM and slow CPUs.

They can also be used for web servers as well, which can be really handy when you run a bunch.

I think Linux is also used a lot on older computers and servers which are too slow for newer versions of Windows.

Sometimes Windows can be too complicated vs just using a linux machine that can run off pure command line.

Windows can also use a lot of storage, and require a newer CPU which makes it more expensive to run.

Linux computers which use command lines don't need a modern video chip for doing tasks like editing text, opening an audio file like an mp3 player, using an English dictionary program, or calculating math questions.
