I think some poorly made USB cables can also damage your device, or the port.
Maybe using a wireless video signal by using wifi, 5G, etc or a laser beam to beam the video signal to the monitor can be a good way to connect a PC video can be safer.

My work place uses USB connection to make up for another port, apparently the monitors go out often, requiring a reboot.

I seen some USB to VGA video ports adapters. I guest they can be good for people with an unreliable or broken video VGA connection on a dual monitor computer setup.
There are also USB-C monitors which are useful for thin laptops which no longer have a HDMI video port.

I haven't seen a usb c yet, I would think they be even more unreliable.

The newer Apple Macbook laptops use USB-C as the video port. I think the monitor can also charge the laptop while you plug it in.

that's a nice feature, all monitors should have that since more people hook their laptops up to another monitor.

It would also be cool if Monitors have a built-in power plug for letting people plug-in devices like a game console, Blu-ray player, and speaker system.
