Using an operating system like Linux or Chromebooks on public computers could make reinstalling an OS faster because of the smaller file sizes of Linux and Chrome OS.

Would make it quicker, but Windows can load fast on a SSD device.

That is true, I think it still takes awhile to fully install Windows if you are installing Windows from a USB flash drive because some flash drives have slower read speeds.

depends on the flash drive, a 3.0 in a 3.0 slot can make it faster.

I think the storage chips could be slow on cheaper USB 3.0 flash drive. There are also cheap computers with slower SSD and flash memory which is commonly used on cheap MicroSD cards.

I've seen those, they don't run very well in the long run specially if it gets a virus.

I imagine some viruses may damage cheaper SSD if the virus writes a lot of data to the SSD, or cause the computer to use a lot of virtual memory on the SSD. Cheaper SSD may not last very long if it gets hotter from a virus writing a lot of data or causing the SSD to use a lot of virtual memory on the SSD.

A virus scan also runs more slowly on very cheap SSDs, so removing viruses can be slower.
