I'm surprised it hasn't been done, but might be a power routing issue.

I think monitor companies want to earn more money by not including extra features like an power outlet for plugging in things like a game console.

The monitor maker may need to use a better more expensive power adapter which can power a monitor, and also a device like a game console at the same time.

I can see that, most likely why they sell most adapters on the side. I know my company has to buy them in bulk.

Some tech companies also claim it is better for the environment by not including a power adapter, HDMI cable, and paper instruction manuals.

Some users may replace the LCD screen more often because of accidents, but their old power adapter and cable still work, so they just buy the monitor without the power adapter to save money and shipping & handling costs.

I know Nintendo did something similar with the power cord and it is true a user may not need all the adapters.

I think some smartphones no longer include a charger to save money, and make it possible to sell the phone for less money, and still make a profit.

I think someday more monitors will be powered by a USB power adapter/charger like newer laptops, tablets, and smartphones, so some people may prefer to save money by buying a monitor with no power adapter included. But, the user need to use the USB power adapter they already own, or plugging in their monitor into their's PC's USB port to get power.

Wouldn't surprise me, most people unless its their first have a ton of chargers.
