You think the SSD would have a tiny mini battery in it to keep it going like the old SNES games used to keep the save data intact.

Sometimes those mini batteries can run out of power as well after many years. They can also be kind of expensive like those motherboard batteries which cost $5 or more for a single battery. A lot of people who buy SSD maybe looking for a good deal, and may not buy a SSD which is slightly more expensive because it has a battery.
I remember in the early days of SSD, there were SSDs which used RAM chips as storage, and had a separate power supply or battery to power the SSD when the PC was off to prevent power lost which will cause the drive to lose data once there is no power.

yeah they run out of power, but its better than the SSD itself going completely off.

True, it is best for the SSD has power to keep the data from being erased. But, I got a feeling most SSD makers want to save money by not adding a battery, and recommend people use external hard drives to backup important data.
I think if you own a newer PC, laptop or tablet with a SSD, it is best to back up files to an external hard drive, and other PCs which has a hard drive.

Good batteries made by big companies like Duracell and Energizer maybe almost as expensive as smaller size SSDs which are 16 to 32 GB in size. 16 to 32GB SSD are common on a lot of cheaper laptops and desktop computers which cost $99-199 or less.
32GB SSD cost around $10-20 on eBay.

Considering we're at 1 TB HDD, 32GB is pretty weak.
