yeah speaker quality seems to be hard to come by. Most seem rather cheap or made of cheap plastic/fabric instead of all plastic.

I agree the quality of the speaker is not very good these days. But, people are not willing to pay more for a computer which has better speakers, and rather save a few dollars, and deal with listening to music and audio which sounds not as good as high quality speakers which cost more.

I know at the retailer I work, we sold this one dell that had poor speakers, everyone who bought it ended up returning it because they didn't want to pay extra for speakers.

I thought people can usually test out a PC at a store before buying it. Some electronic stores like Bestbuy have demo models in the store for people to test out.

I bet, a lot of people who bought the Dell PC did not read user reviews on your retailers website, or on forums, blogs, and websites like YouTube which most likely reviewed the Dell PC.

Sometimes, the soundcard in cheap PCs are not good, so installing a better soundcard, or using an external USB sound card could improve the sound of cheaper poorer quality speakers if it is the soundcard in the PC is low quality.

yeah there is demos but you never really think about testing out the sound though.

I agree people don't really test out the sound unless they buy the computer mainly for watching movies, listening to music, or recording music where sound is very important.

still, you're better off investing in a different sound system. I have the Sound Blast Roar 2 and I love it.
