they do have shortages, but monitors shouldn't need such chip, I hope.

The chip maker which make monitor chips may start making more expensive chips like CPU and video card chips, and may cause a shortage in cheaper chips found in cheaper monitors.

Certainly could be some kind of shortage, if they do pick up the supply slack.

I heard the US government and other countries will be investing a lot of money in making chips in the US, so the shortage may not last as long as predicted.

Depends if they got to build the places, if so it could take a full year yet.

I agree it may take a long time. Maybe huge companies like Intel may have enough factories, money and workers to quickly make enough chips for their own devices this year.

Doesn't help there is a major worker shortage, so things won't be made as fast as it should.
