I agree they are still needed. Some countries and states are still having a lot of new Covid19 infections. I feel we may need to wait until 2022 for the chip shortage to be over.

Most likely, even PS5 will be in short supply until 2022.

I imagine the Xbox Series X and Gaming PC may get more buyers from people who can't easily find a PS5 at a local store because of shortages.

depends, people do buy these things for the software.

That is true people buy game consoles for the software. But, a Gaming PC and Xbox Series X maybe more attractive if they can't find a PS5 at a local store, and don't want to buy a used PS5 or PS5 at a higher price at a scalper.
