I have seen some local people build machines, thinking about looking into it with my next build.

I think one of the good things of hiring a local person or computer store is you can ask them, and know what kind of parts like RAM, storage drive, storage drive cables, and power supplies they usefor your computer build.

True, they would know all that and not be forced to sell a certain thing due to corporate policy.

I think some people may buy a computer from a local PC builder because they want to buy a PC without an operating system because they already own a copy of Windows like people who work at a computer store, or a tech support job where their boss may buy them a copy of Windows to learn how to use it.

So long as it isn't retail, you can buy no OS pcs, some even offer linux as an option.

I think there is also an option to buy a pre-built computer without a storage drive if you ask to not include a drive before building your PC to save money. Some people may already own a SSD or hard drive they got for a low price because they bought their storage drive when it is on sale on Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

You can do that, sometimes easier to do to make sure you get the one you want for the PC.
