Fans will also die a lot quicker if they are in bad environments like that with smoke and pet hair.

I think some fans may also die faster in hot places like the dessert which is also sandy.

I don't think they would last long at all, any sand that gets in them would kill the fan.

I think there are washable dust filters for PC fans, but you need to wash them often. The dust filters may help reduce sand from damaging PC fans.

I've never seen any filters in PCs, mostly whats on the laptop shell and they are easy to clean.

I think fan filters are mostly installed on custom gaming pcs.

I think I have seen that option, but it really isn't cheap to have installed.
