Re: Purchasing parts
I'm sure there are, as they would think it be more reliable as well.

Re: Purchasing parts
I feel many people may buy a SSD with a heatsink/cooler like how a lot of gamers buy desktop ram with a heatsink on it to better cool their RAM, and because it looks cooler.

Or they might be turned away due to the increase in price, heat sinks can really up the price.

Re: Purchasing parts
I think the higher price of a SSD with a heatsink may make some richer people buy a SSD with a heatsink if SSD makers can convince buyers that a heatsink is useful, they want to show off the heatsink, or the heatsink has a cool design and picture on it.
People sometimes plan to keep SSDs for over 5 years, so buying a more expensive SSD with a heatsink could be worth it for people who plan to use the same SSD for many years.

Re: Purchasing parts
due to their limited write count, which is still high, depending on their use the SSD might not last 5 years.

Re: Purchasing parts
I think if the SSD is not used to run a Windows operating system, it may last longer than 5 years. I think most Linux based operating systems use less virtual RAM, so it does not write as much data to a storage drive's virtual RAM swap file.

Re: Purchasing parts
as a simple backup device, it could last a lot longer. A OS could speed up its end of life.
