older ones would be easier to manage since there are more people familiar with them and able to write guides and offer advice. Something you won't find with newer upgrades.

There also maybe more training courses for teaching students on how to properly repair older tech. A lot of newer tech may never get enough users, so most repair schools may not teach students to repair unpopular tech like HD-DVD players and Windows Phone smartphones.

most people who want to do that can or know where to take course. Most don't care about learning.

There maybe more local schools for repairing older tech, so people who want to learn don't need to drive many miles to go to school to learn to repair older tech which billions of people use. I agree most people don't really care about their older tech.

I know there is one local school in my area that does offer free services in the winter to spring season.

That is nice of them to offer free services. I bet, they see a lot of old computers and devices.

too many old devices really, and some very interesting cases. Though most end up having to upgrade.
