I think sites with a lot of text and javascripts can also slowdown the loading times on dialup modems.

Specially if they have a lot of high res png images.

I think animated gifs can also slowdown loadtimes on dialup if the animated gifs are very long and higher reolution.

I do recall gifs from the old days completely crippling web page loads, they sucked.

I think people also made very long gifs which are many seconds in length which made the gif load slowly on older computers, and slower inteernet connections.

Also slower internet won't work with any vpn programs, making them useless.

I think slower internet wont work well with Remote desktops and streaming video and music as well.
