I heard there is a new type of Cryptocurrency which is called Chia which use hard drive space to mine Cryptocurrency, so some miners may switch to mining chia which is cheaper to mine, so the video card shortage may soon be less of a problem.

Those who need storage could find an issue with that, as 4 and above TB storage devices could become hard to find.

I read on a tech blog there is a storage shortage which is caused by Chia cryptocurrency.

But, the storage shortage may also be caused by many more people now uploading more video and photos to many websites like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Dailymotion because people have more free time because of covid19 lockdowns. Large websites like YouTube and Facebook maybe buying more hard drives to store more videos which users are uploading to their site.

Might be smart for me to start buying a few just encase, though I guess SSDs will be safe for awhile.

I agree SSDs will be safe for awhile since they cost more and have less storage for a same price hard drive. I feel there maybe more unsold hard drives in the future because electronics like laptops, tablets, mini-PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X are now using SSDs, so fewer devices makers need to buy a lot of hard drives for their devices.

True, they could always make some kind of storage device for monitors for quicker and basic storage tasks.

There are smaller SSDs which can help for doing quicker and basic storage tasks.
