Might be a long while or until something replaces them as a main media

I guess Microsoft can always pay the licensing fees to legally play Blu-Ray movies on Windows, so more people buy a Windows 11 PC with a Blu-Ray drive to watch 4K movies on their 4K TV.

I think sony owns the rights and they wouldn't want to pay them more money I believe.

I feel fewer people will buy the Xbox Series X and Xbox One with a Bluray drive if Microsoft bundled a Bluray movie disc player software for Windows.
Microsoft may notof includeda Bluray player, so more people buyan Xbox Series X or Xbox One to watch Bluray movie disc, and avoid paying for the rights to play Bluray movies on a PC.

It's really not worth to put much behind disc drives, with the big three moving to digital only stuff.

I think movies and games stored on disc still have many users in places where the internet is unreliable for a long time because of poorly trained internet service provider workers which are not good at maintaining their ISP's connection speed and reliability which can stream or download a HD or 4K movie or game at a fast speed.

Seems like Sony is offering disc options for now, but the big companies really want to drop disc support for the better of their bottom line profits.
