I can see that if others don't want to foot the bill for visiting sites. It's why a lot of people like to get better PC parts and just download stuff to play easily on their PCs.

A lot of people prefer a Gaming PC to download PC games, or play their older disc/physical PC games they bought from a store which may not be sold at Steam because the maker of the game decided to not sell it on Steam or gone out of business. There are also some people who may make their own PC games where owning a powerful PC is nice.

I think some people downloaded a lot of older flash and java web browser games to play offline with a third-party flash and Java games player where having a lot of storage space can be useful especially if you like to record your gameplay videos to upload to a video sharing website, or show people your high scores gameplay videos.

There is some nice 3rd party java scripts to run old pc games, but they aren't the most secured, which is sad since we lost a lot of games when java ended.

I think a virtual machine software can be a more secure way for playing older Java games and programs with an older OS like Windows 7 which is compatible with Java.

If you can still get a hold of the old java software, not sure if it can be downloaded anymore.

I think some older Java programming textbooks come with the Java web browser plug-in and software stored on a CD disc.

There are probably third-party Java plug-in and players to continue using custom Java programs which some companies are using for doing tasks like entering data in a database.

I think it was the browser addon to make it work, granted I'm sure anyone could program a working version these days.
