I think the quick scan is better than the real-time scan, but a full or custom scan where you scan most or all folders and drives for malware is best.

I don't trust the real time scan, can slow a pc down and if something is in use can cause conflicts.

I think simple real-time file scans, which only scan files when you open them, may not slow down a computer as much.

But, real-time scans can block good programs from running.

Be nice if AVs release their code so programs can run along side with them.

I feel running programs in a Virtual Machine or Online Streaming like Google Stadia without security software can be one way to prevent Antiviruses from messing up software from running correctly or not at all.

a sand box, although annoying is the best thing to do, but not many would know how to run one.

Sandbox and virtual machines can become slow. But, they are easy to backup the virtual drive, so it is easier to recover from a virus by restoring from a back up of an uninfected virtual drive backup.

A few Windows gamers and users may use Virtual machines to use older versions of Windows like XP to play old games, hardware, software which no longer run on Windows 11 because of software and hardware compatibility problems.
