I've certainly seen older tech passed off as new, people won't know till they go to try it.

I wonder if there are stories of old tech damaging some computers if the old version of the tech have design flaws which causes electrical problems, or firmware problems.

Sometimes putting in a wrong power supply or component can lead to static energy damage.

I heard older and cheaper power supplies are usually not very good for using on computers with a gaming video card because the power supply is not good enough for powering a more powerful video card.

A person with a cheap power supply would make their system crash at the slightest strong need of power.

I think lower quality power supplies sometimes run hotter, an have cheap cooling fans, so they may more likely make a computer run hotter.

Long as it is ventilated well, it shouldn't be a problem, though the parts could burn up faster.
