I remember people used to carry cell phones on their pant's belt, but I feel carrying a phone on a belt may attract robbers who want to steal your phone.

It does leave it open to be stolen in a purse snatch like way. Why I keep mine in my pocket.

I think keeping a phone in a vest pocket could offer some protection from getting a phone stolen unless the robber wants to steal your vest if it looks expensive.

That does work, unless the phone starts to burn and then it could be an issue.

I haven't heard of many phone batteries exploding or catching on fire these days, so I think it is rare for a phone to burn a vest.

I feel modern chargers and USB ports are also less likely to overcharge the battery these days.
