True, but they might also make more money selling them as a hook on external, cheap looking as they are.

There are laptop docks which add more features like a VGA video port, Ethernet port, and USB hub to a lsptop when you attach the laptop to the dock.

I think making a dock with a disc drive for a desktop would not be very hard except for cutting holes in the case to attach the power supply, and SATA cable to the dock, or using a USB cable.

But, I think most people will just buy a used case with a disc drive slot if they can't find a new case with a disc drive slot because it would look nicer, and used computer cases with a disc drive slot can be bought for $50 or less on eBay.

I'm pretty sure they are trying to make those docks pretty small as well, a disc drive wouldn't really work either.

I think laptop disc drive may work at keeping the dock thin, but laptop disc drive look less durable than desktop disk drive with a tray or a disc slot like the disc drive on Playstation 4.

Eh, I'm not too keen on the PS4 disc drive, I feel like its pretty flimsy and I see lots of reports of it breaking for others.

I feel the tray style desktop disc drive is best because they seem very durable in my experience. I have some old computers, DVD players, and a Xbox 360 where the tray still open and close after many years of owning them.

I don't really like the laptop style disc because the disc drive's laser and other parts are located on the tray where dust and dirt can drop on it.

Agreed, though I much rather just open the disc tray and set the disc inside, just like the PS1 and PS2 slim consoles used to do.
