I've certainly read enough horror stories of companies making budget by cutting the IT department money and trusting in simple AV.

Sometimes more advance AV only cost a little more money, and hiring more IT staff may help them lose less money from malware messing up their computers and network.

The cost of any and all IT is worth it so long as there is little to no downtime.

I imagine long downtown may cause some people to not upgrade their security hardware and software as often.

downtime can be a loss of money and business, so yeah, 24/7 uptime is required.

I guess companies can make a temporary site for taking orders during the downtime.

That be a nightmare for their accounting department as well as using services to verify payment, something that AV can help with at times.
