I think there is also a chance that a home made filter can break your air purifier if it causes it to overheat.

True, not using official made stuff can cause anything to break.

Non-official stuff like air filters may also contain harmful chemicals if the materials like paper and plastic is badly made.

True, the more cheap its made, the worse it might contain something bad for your home or environment.

The packaging may also be cheaply made, so rats and bugs can touch the inside of the package.

True, I've gotten stuff from amazon with dead bugs in it, making me wonder how safe it was to handle.

I hope unhappy underpaid workers dont put dead bugs in packages on purpose.
