IE is freeware since it comes with most version of their OS without additional fees. Plus, you can always download newer versions of IE free of charge. IE 8 will also be a free download since the beta is currently free.considering other browsers are free and IE is something you have to pay for this should be happening to the free browsers not the ones you have to pay for. so that tells you something about the quality of other browsers.
Plus, If you own a Mac, you used to be able to download IE for it for free. http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/5888
But, it is unavailiable since Apple has Safari now.
MS doesn't control the software industry. They only can control their own software like MS Office, and MS Encarta.Liddo Annie wrote:I sit back point and Laugh.
then I'd be pissed if Microsoft demands ALL new software in the future, is only compatible with what ever new system they have. I was told microsoft was doing something like that.
The software companies who are non-MS companies like Corel, EA, Norton , Techsmith, etc can keep making software for older Windows systems. For example, Norton and Symantec firewalls are not compatible with Vista the last time I checked like 6 months a go.
Microsoft can only control their own software compatiblity for new and old systems. For Example, Office 2007 no longer works for computers that run on Windows 2000 and older. It onlt works on Windows XP and up.
