Indeed, a lot of parents don't feel like paying for yearly subscriptions, more accessories like extra controllers, headsets, surround sound speaker system, HDTV and a HDMI cable to get the most out of a console.

HDMI cable is a must if you got a HD TV, and I would love surround sound though it's not cheap.

I watch a video on YouTube that said component cables Red, Blue, and Green Cables also can make your video games HD like HDMI cables, but both HDMI and component HD cables don't come with most console except the premium and elite Xbox 360.

It kind of stinks that gamers can't use PC surround speakers for their speakers since PC surround speakers just cost 60-80+ dollars while Home Theature surrounde speakers can cost hundreds of dollars.
However, there are 100- 200 dollar Surround sound system which you can hook up to a TVs, game consoles, dvd player, cable boxes, but they are usually made by RCA, Coby, and lesser known brands like Dynex, Insignia.

I don't get why those systems don't come with a HDMI cable. It just screams rip off.

Some people might complain they already have HDMI cables, and the system makers want you to buy their Sony, or Microsoft branded HDMI cables which cost a lot since a lot of people still think "I own a PS3 and Xbox 360, so I need to buy a Sony, or MS branded HDMI cable instead of a 10 dollar HDMI cable online"

Possibly, but I think you need to login. I still wonder how fast and reliable this is since if your internet is slow or unreliable using Sony cloud can be slow or frustrating.
