Windows 7 had a lot of Windows updates over the many years it was release, and these updates sometimes slow Windows down because the updates add more un-needed features to Windows, or the update was quickly released to fix a serious security problems like the WannaCry security vulnerability.

Background Programs like Antivirus, Antimalware, Firewall, and system utilities also has a lot of updates, and new releases which are quickly release which can cause slowdown problems if the updates were poorly made, and use a lot of RAM.

Windows 7 probably now requires an Intel Core i7, 10GB of RAM, SSD drive, and newer video card to run smoothly without as many slowdown problems caused by the many updates which were release for Windows 7, and background programs like Antivirus, Firewall, and Antimalware.

The pc does have an i5, but I really doubt it takes an i7 to run w7 these days. Specially since most updates these days are kind of w10 pushers.

The Intel Core i5 has been out for many years where there are now 8 generations of i5 since 2009. Older i5 may not have newer features like a larger cache, and newer firmware/software at a faster speed, and more reliably for running an updated Windows 7 with most of the Windows Updates installed.

Maybe a future Windows Update will fix slowdown problems in Windows 7 when running on older processors.

I think they are both at 8th gen according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_I ... eration.29 , but the laptop version of the i7 is at the 7th gen which is also the 8th gen according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_I ... eration.29

I swear they go out of their way to make their CPUs confusing to understand.
