Some printer companies and electronic stores may offer a recycling program where they take your old and broken printers from you, so you don't need to go to the local junkyard and electronic recycling center which can be many miles away from a person's town.
Companies may payback a few dollars for working printers, or give a giftcard or discount for buying a new printer, and other stuff from the store.

I know some stores in my town that recycle for free, sadly some people bring in some rather disgusting covered tech.
