I just set mine to WEP. It's a coincidence really that I can hack into WEP. Did it once to my neighbours, almost got caught a few times.

emulators just simulate the hardware needed to play the game, and gievs the responses the software is expecting,

not really, emulators can make it easier to see details in games, and makes it easier to have a double the size screen without severe modification to your GBA/DS

Do they look better since CRT monitors have better black levels then LCDs?

depends really, GB/GBC no diff, they just become more pixelated

Many gba games just look the same,

DS games are alot better colour depth just a bit harder as a lack of touchscreen

Is the DS graphics set to 16 bit colour or 32 bit colour

Well, people with crappy onboard Video made by intel sometimes set their monitor to 16 bit when trying to play older games.

Intel should just give coupons to people to buy a better video card instead of making onboard video with such bad specs.
