Usually the best thing to do is to hide in plain sight to get the infection out, sometimes paying to do that is the best way.

Hopefully, more students will buy good antivirus programs to protect their computer which they use for school work because sharing files with other students can be risky at times.

Most just tend to go with what is on their PCs or recommended at retail stores that push their services on people.

I think some schools like colleges offer paid antivirus programs for students to use. The school antivirus maybe better than the antivirus which came with their PC or a retail store.

Usually the schools to require their own AV before anything can be used, as a security measure.

I think a lot of schools now use Google Chromebooks and iPads which maybe safer for the school's network since there are not many known viruses for Chromebook and iPad.

Most of them do for at least chromebook since they are cheaper, apple not so much.
