That is true most schools pick Chromebooks because it is cheaper, and come with some free online storage.

The schools would get additional storage options from Microsoft with their office licenses as well.

I feel online storage is somewhat risky for data loss. Hopefully, most Chromebook, and Windows users backup their data to the internal storage, usb drive, and local network drives.

I don't trust online storage either, specially if someone uploads a virus and nothing to scan and protect the files.

I think it may also be possible for a virus on online storage server, router, or an infected ISP connection to upload viruses to your computer, or files being transfer to your computer.

The issue with transferring files, thankfully AVs are good enough to stop most of that.

I think some more advance firewalls may also block viruses from entering a computer's through file transfers.
