Re: Recommended AV?
I think some people prefer reading e-magazines/e-books because they are stored on a storage drive, so people can read them offline. But, most people use free websites to read about computer security, and other topics. There are paid news websites, so buying a few e-magazines and e-books is cheaper than subscribing to paid news websites for many years.

True, web pages can also be saved offline but they may take up more storage.

I think eBooks use smaller images with smaller file sizes, so people with eReaders with 4GB of storage would buy their book. There are some people who may only use an eReader to read magazines, and books because their computer is too old to run a modern web browser at a fast speed, or their still using Windows XP which is not compatible with many modern web browser.

There are some old pcs that can barely handle modern pdfs and saved websites. Why it would be nice if most AVs had a lite mode for running scans.

I think there are antivirus which run more lightweight scans. But, they have fewer features.

Scans doesn't always need to be deep, which is why a lesser scan could be more useful.

I think using more than one antimalware software like Spybot, SuperAntispyware, and Malwarebytes to scan a less trustworthy looking file can be as good as using deep scan.
