I think there are websites where people can find virus website links to the latest virus, so antivirus makers and computer security workers and hobbyists can test how good their antivirus and antimalware is at blocking new virus and malware.

There are some testing sand boxes with AVs, it can be a nice feature for unknown files.

There are antivirus with multiple virus databases files to scan files which can be useful for e-mail servers and users.

False positives are very annoying. I remember reading articles that they can sometimes cause Windows to not startup after false positives are removed from Windows.

I've had legit programs completely killed and destroyed because of it, a very annoying thing.

I think there are settings in most antivirus to let users tell the AV to ignore programs, so it won't be deleted by a false positive.
