Google branded networking gear is not very popular unless you pay attention to Google Internet ads, and read tech blogs which write about Google WiFI.
Google branded routers are mesh routers called Google Wifi where you need at least one router. But, it is recommended to install a second mesh router repeater device to make the Wi-fi router signal more reliable, and faster.

mesh can be pretty good for large homes or wide areas.

Anything expanding beyond a one router setup does get pretty expensive.

This is true. Some of those repeaters and range extenders can cost almost as much as a new router.

Which at that point you might as buy a high end one with six antennas on it.
