I usually turn off my Printer if it has a Wi-Fi adapter on the printer since you never know if a hacker can hack a router, and also hack a nearby wi-fi printer which has a ON signal.
If you have your PC connected to the internet, and your printer is ON and connected to your PC's USB port, a hacker can always hack your PC and use your printer to print spam, and scams to try to sell you things like fake antivirus software to prevent your printer from getting hacked again.
I know a lot of people who tend to leave their printer on for easy access, I might have to educate them or at least make their password near impossible to break.
