I feel using a virtual machine to use newly downloaded software can reduce most new virus infections.

Not many people are willing to put in the effort to keep up a test until they know it is safe.

It would be nice if antivirus programs have a built-in chat program to ask other antivirus users if they know the program is safe or not safe.

That be good on a work level, something that anyone can reach out to would lead to issues.

I think limiting the chat to a few knowledgeable users may help, and prevent wrong answers.

Kind of hard to do that with the internet, most can look up answers.

Maybe antivirus companies can create a forum app which is built-into the antivirus's window, so more than one user can post an answer for security related concerns with a new program.
